Assam police on maximum alert following Pune blast

GUWAHATI: The Assam police and other security forces are on maximum alert throughout the state following the Pune blast which killed nine persons and left 57 injured.

"The police and other security forces are on maximum alert and they are guarding all vital installations following the bomb blast in Pune", inspector general of police (Law and Order), Bhaskar Jyoti Mahanta said here today.

He said several inimical forces including the Jehadis had their presence in the state and every step was taken to maintain peace.

"The vital installations including railway tracks and stations, airport, oil refineries, banks and other financial institutions are being guarded and police pickets have been posted in several sensitive areas", Mahanta said. The entry and exit points of major towns of the state have been sealed, he said.
