Huge cache of explosives, detonators recovered in Poonch

JAMMU - Security personnel recovered a major dump of cache including explosives, detonators and other ammunition material on Sunday in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch district, official said here.

Acting on a tip off of a possible hideout, troops of the 40 Rashtriya Rifles launched a search operation and the hideout was busted in one-kilometer north of Mandi forest area in Poonch.

A major haul of ammunition, comprising 12-kilogram explosive, six hand- grenades, one Chinese pistol, four UBGL, UGBL grenades 65, Ak ammunition 56, eights pistol rounds, electronic detonators 251, normal detonators 27, six RPG rounds, four boosters.

Besides, at least 10 cylindrical bombs, four motors rounds, nine switches, nine IED boxes, wire 15-metres and two AK-47 magazines have also been recovered from the hideout.

However, none of the militants could be nabbed, as they fled the place before security personnel and police teams could arrive.
