Maoists blast health centre in Gaya

Gaya, Apr 26 : Even after blowing up a building of an abandoned police picket in Bihar’s Gaya District on Saturday, the Maoists remain undeterred as they bombed a health sub-centre at Chonha village in the district last night.

According to reports, heavily armed Maoist rebels arrived in Chonha village just before midnight, about 70 km from here, and blasted the health sub-centre, which was shut at that time.

The ultras also blew up the residence of former head of Narayanpur panchayat Maqsood Khan.

The rebels reportedly thrashed the family members of Khan and drove them out of their house before blasting it.

According to sources, the Naxalites looted upto rupees two-lakh and valuables worth Rs 5 lakh from the house.

Earlier, Maoists in the wee hours of Saturday had blasted the building of a vacated police post.

Meanwhile, the anguished villagers are protesting against Gaya SP MR Naik and are demanding an immediate action against him for failing to take measures for their security.
