"Though there are no specific reports of any infiltration of armed Taliban militants, India is fully geared up to give a befitting reply to the intruders," Kumawat told reporters.
"It is a matter of great concern that major militant groups are still active in Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (POK) and their infrastructures remains intact."
The head of the paramilitary force is on a visit to Tripura and is reviewing border management strategies with senior BSF officials.
"India would further tighten the vigil along the 4,095 km-long international border with Bangladesh by increasing border outposts (BOPs) from 1,411 to 1,882 and deploying more BSF troopers with modern gadgets and devices," Kumawat said.
He said that the Indian government has sanctioned 29 more BSF battalions to strengthen security along the eastern and western borders of the country.
"After the mutiny by the Bangladesh Rifles (BDR), security along India's border (with Bangladesh) has been strengthened and our troopers maintain highest vigil," he said.
BDR has sought various logistical help from India and New Delhi will render all types of support as Bangladesh is a friendly country, Kumawat added.
"Bangladesh government has dismantled various camps of northeast millitants and after the installation of new government in that country Dhaka has assured us that it would not provide shelter to any Indian separatist outfits.
"After the fencing, border crimes have came down considerably and the government has sanctioned floodlighting along the India-Bangladesh border for better protection of the frontier," he said.
