'Chidambaram arrived in the morning and went to the state secretariat,' Deputy Commissioner of Police H.K. Lal told IANS.
Official sources said Chidambaram is here to review the internal security situation in the run-up to the assembly and parliamentary polls, which will be held in the state in two phases on April 16 and 23.
The home minister is expected to hold discussions with Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and senior officials.
